The first day of Fall is not really September 22nd. Everybody knows Fall really starts when you drink your first pumpkin spiced latte of the season, right? Maybe I’m the the only one but i’m excited to usher in fall early this year. It’s been a blazing hot summer and I’m more then ready for sweater season.
If you are looking for a homemade version of the famous drink to save a few bucks or you just want a more natural (or vegan) version you’re in the right place.
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2½ cups pumpkin puree
- 1 tbsp pumpkin spice
- Warm water in saucepan on low heat.
- Add sugar and dissolve fully on low heat.
- Add pumpkin and pumpkin spice to saucepan and whisk thoroughly.
- Let cool and store in fridge.
Now that you have your syrup made you can make yummy lattes super quick.
I suggest using 2 tbsp of syrup to each shot of espresso but you can adjust it according to your taste.
For a 2 shot latte use 4 tbsp of syrup and whisk it together with 1 cup of milk.
Steam the milk and syrup very thoroughly to make sure its all mixed in.
Add your shots of espresso.
If you want you can top it off with whip cream and a tiny bit of nutmeg.
